Veteran actor William Smithers, best known for playing ruthless oil tycoon Jeremy Wendell on the TV drama Dallas, has died at the age of 98.
Born in Virginia in 1927, Smithers served in the U.S. military before building a television and film career that lasted more than six decades. He appeared in shows such as The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, and Gunsmoke. He also won a landmark legal case against MGM and later became known for portraying Jeremy Wendell, one of J.R. Ewing’s biggest rivals on Dallas. Smithers is survived by a legacy of memorable performances and dedication to the entertainment industry.
