Raising young children can be overwhelming, especially for parents of multiple kids. Jordan Driskell, a 31-year-old father of quintuplets, faced this challenge daily with his five 5-year-olds.
To manage outings, he replaced a bulky 6-seat stroller with child safety leashes, allowing the kids to walk freely while staying close and safe. He said the stroller had become impractical, while leashes helped the children explore without getting lost in crowded places.
A video of the family visiting an aquarium went viral with millions of views, sparking mixed reactions online. Some criticized the use of leashes, while others defended the parents’ decision as a practical safety solution.
Parenting expert Dr. Deborah Gilboa noted that leashes do not harm children psychologically and can be useful in certain situations, especially for very young or neurodiverse kids. However, she added that older children should gradually develop independent listening and behavior skills without relying on such tools.
