British actress Emaa Hussen, 34, known for roles in an EastEnders spin-off and the Jason Statham film Hummingbird, is facing serious drug trafficking charges in Australia.
She has been accused of attempting to smuggle around 320 kilograms of methamphetamine into the country, hidden inside shipments of charcoal that arrived at Sydney’s Port Botany from Ghana. Authorities say the drugs, with an estimated street value of about A$296 million, were intercepted after border officials flagged suspicious cargo during X-ray scans.
Investigators allegedly allowed the shipment to proceed to a storage facility, where Hussen was later arrested after reportedly directing others during the collection process. Police also seized electronic devices and documents during the operation.
She has been denied bail and is due back in court in August. If convicted, she could face life in prison.
