The search for 19-year-old Marly Kinney has ended in heartbreak.
Kentucky authorities confirmed that Kinney’s body was found Sunday afternoon near Grayson Lake, bringing a tragic end to the days-long search that had captured the attention of the local community.
Officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources said multiple agencies located her body at approximately 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Her family has been notified, and the Carter County Coroner responded to the scene. The official cause of death will be determined by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office.
Kinney was last seen Wednesday during a boating trip on Grayson Lake. Her disappearance prompted an extensive search involving Kentucky Fish and Wildlife game wardens, Kentucky State Police, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local fire departments, and numerous rescue teams.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details surrounding the circumstances of her death.
Earlier in the investigation, officials arrested 23-year-old Cameron Conley, who was operating the boat Kinney was last seen on. He faces a charge of boating under the influence after reportedly telling investigators he could not locate Kinney following the outing.
