Beloved Soap and TV Actress Dies at 66

Actress Dolores Freeman, widely known to fans as Dee Freeman, has died at the age of 66 following a battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

Her family confirmed her passing on Instagram, sharing that she died peacefully on April 2, 2026, after what they described as a brave and dignified fight. They thanked supporters for the outpouring of love and said she was deeply moved by the encouragement she received during her illness.

Freeman’s publicist praised her strength and authenticity, noting that even in the face of cancer, she continued to carry herself with grace and quiet resilience.

Before her acting career, Freeman served six years in the United States Marine Corps. She later transitioned into entertainment, landing her first screen role in 1995 and eventually building a steady career in television, including appearances on The Young and the Restless and Sistas.

Born in Louisiana in 1959, she pursued acting after her military service and spent decades working in the industry. She is survived by her two children, Amber and Shane, who were described as her greatest pride.

Her son was by her side in her final moments. According to family, when asked how she was feeling, Freeman responded simply: “Can’t complain. On the other side doesn’t do you any good.”
