Millions knew him as firefighter and paramedic John Gage from NBC’s groundbreaking series Emergency! — a role that changed the way America viewed first responders.

The show didn’t just entertain audiences. It introduced many people to the world of paramedics and emergency medicine, inspiring countless careers in EMS and firefighting.

From 1972 to 1977, Mantooth starred alongside Kevin Tighe as part of Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 51, bringing the courage and dedication of emergency crews into living rooms across the country.
