Teen Heartthrob Kirk Cameron Walked Away From Hollywood—Here’s Why He Never Looked Back
In the 1980s, Kirk Cameron was one of Hollywood’s biggest teen stars, winning millions of fans with his role as Mike Seaver on Growing Pains. But at the height of his fame, he made a decision that shocked everyone—he walked away from Hollywood.
Cameron never planned to become an actor. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a surgeon, but his mother introduced him to acting, leading to commercials and eventually his breakout role on Growing Pains.
Despite his success, Cameron later admitted he struggled with life in Hollywood. As a teenager, a visit to church sparked a life-changing journey of faith that completely changed his priorities.
He eventually chose to leave the Hollywood lifestyle behind, marrying his Growing Pains co-star Chelsea Noble at age 20. Together they built a family, raising six children, four of whom were adopted.
In recent years, Cameron also left California for Tennessee, saying he wanted a safer environment, stronger family values, and to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Today, he continues acting while focusing on faith, family, and projects that reflect the values he believes in.
