Former Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz has died at 71 after a private battle with cancer. His family shared the news, saying he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Buchholz joined Scorpions in 1977 and became a key member of the band’s classic era, playing on iconic albums like Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement, and Crazy World. His melodic bass lines helped shape the band’s legendary sound during the 1980s.
He left Scorpions in 1992, later saying he wanted to step away from the band’s internal conflicts and focus on family life. He continued working in music through songwriting, production, and collaborations with former bandmates.
