I Installed a Camera in My Daughter’s Room — What I Saw Left Me Speechless
For weeks, Emily kept telling me the same strange thing:
“Mommy, my bed feels smaller.”
At first, I thought it was just a child’s imagination. But then she started waking up during the night and saying she felt like someone was beside her.
One evening, she looked at me seriously and asked,
“Mommy… did you come into my room last night?”
I told her no.
That was when I started feeling uneasy.
The next day, I installed a small camera in her room.
For the first few nights, everything looked normal. Emily slept peacefully, and I almost convinced myself that I had worried for nothing.
Until one night, around 2 a.m., I opened the camera app on my phone.
My heart stopped.
Someone was lying next to my daughter.
I stared at the screen, trying to understand what I was seeing.
It was my mother-in-law.
She was quietly sleeping beside Emily, covered by the blanket as if it was completely normal.
And suddenly, I remembered our argument from months earlier.
When I decided Emily should start sleeping in her own room, my mother-in-law became furious. She told me I was a bad mother and that a child should never sleep alone.
I stood by my decision.
But now I realized what had been happening.
Every night, after the house went quiet, she would sneak into Emily’s room and stay beside her until morning.
She believed she was comforting her granddaughter.
But she never realized that she was crossing a line and making Emily uncomfortable.
The next morning, we had a serious conversation.
I made one thing clear:
Loving my daughter does not mean ignoring my rules as her mother.
And from that day on, my mother-in-law understood that she could love Emily — but she could not raise her in my place.
