My BIL Lived Rent-Free for 2 Years — Then Betrayed My Parents

My Brother-in-Law Lived Rent-Free for 2 Years — Then He Crossed the Line

My brother-in-law Jordan moved into our apartment after his divorce.

“Just a few months,” he promised.

Those months became two years.

He never paid rent, barely helped with expenses, and somehow always had money for concerts, trips, and expensive dinners.

Every time I brought it up, my husband Samuel said the same thing:

“He’s family. He’ll figure it out.”

So I stopped arguing.

Then my parents came to visit for their 50th wedding anniversary. Since I was working, Jordan offered to pick them up from the airport.

An hour later, my mother called.

“Honey… where are we supposed to sleep?”

Jordan had taken them to a hotel.

Why?

Because he said he “didn’t want strangers in the apartment” and told my 72-year-old parents they could pay for their own room.

I was furious.

When I confronted him, he was sitting on my couch with his feet up.

“Relax,” he said. “Your parents are already checked in. Now we need to talk about why you owe me an apology.”

That was the moment I realized the problem wasn’t just Jordan.

It was my husband allowing it.
