Chris Anne Affleck, Mother of Ben and Casey Affleck, Dies at 83
Chris Anne Affleck, the mother of Oscar-winning actors Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck, has died at 83 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Chris passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 2, months after her diagnosis. Her family shared that one of her final wishes was fulfilled when she attended her grandson’s high school graduation just days before her death.
Born in New York in 1942, Chris lived a life dedicated to education, activism, and helping others. She participated in civil rights movements, taught during Freedom Summer in Mississippi, and spent 35 years as a public school teacher, inspiring generations of students.
After retirement, she continued her activism, supporting social justice causes and community projects. She was remembered as a woman who always stood up for her beliefs and encouraged others to do the same.
Chris was also a loving mother who supported Ben and Casey throughout their Hollywood careers. She helped Ben take his first steps into acting and proudly celebrated his Oscar success, including Good Will Hunting and Argo.
Although many knew her as the mother of two famous actors, Chris Affleck’s greatest legacy was her dedication to family, education, and making the world a better place.
