Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri, has reportedly legally changed her name to Suri Noelle, dropping her famous father’s surname.
Public records show that she registered to vote in Pennsylvania in 2024 using the name Suri Noelle while attending Carnegie Mellon University. Officials confirmed that voter registration requires a person’s legal name.
The change appears to have happened before college, although the exact date remains unclear because New York name-change records can be sealed.
Suri first drew attention to the new name when her high school graduation program listed her as Suri Noelle instead of Suri Cruise. Sources said the choice honors her mother, Katie Holmes, whose middle name is Noelle, while also helping Suri create her own identity away from constant media attention.
Now studying musical theater at Carnegie Mellon, Suri has already started performing on stage and is building her own career.
The name change comes after years of reports that Suri has had a distant relationship with Tom Cruise following his 2012 divorce from Holmes.
While Cruise remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Katie Holmes has focused on protecting Suri’s privacy and raising her away from the spotlight.
By choosing the name Noelle, Suri appears to be taking a personal step toward independence and creating an identity of her own.
