Carly Simon Opens Up About Her Battles With Parkinson’s and Cancer

Posted on July 29, 2026 By admin

Music legend Carly Simon has revealed a deeply personal health battle that explains why she has spent years away from the spotlight.

The 83-year-old singer shared that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and also underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer, from her face.

Simon said she initially believed her worsening mobility was caused by arthritis and recovery from multiple joint replacements. However, after extensive testing at the Mayo Clinic, doctors diagnosed her with Parkinson’s disease.

She described living with daily stiffness, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and the unpredictable nature of the illness.

Despite these challenges, Simon says she hasn’t stopped creating.

She has been working on her first album of original songs since 2008, finding comfort and purpose in music throughout her health journey.

Reflecting on everything she’s faced, Simon shared a message of hope:

“Illness can change your life without becoming the whole of your life.”

Ending her heartfelt update, she reassured fans:

“I am still very much here.”
