Posted on August 2, 2026 By admin

Former Sacramento State Hornets football player Ivan Garza has died at just 25 years old after being struck by a vehicle in his hometown of Delano, California.

Police responded to the crash shortly after 4 a.m. on July 8. Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated, while the investigation into the collision continues.

Garza’s family has questioned the official account and raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death, saying they believe there may be more to the story. Police have not released further details.

Known as a “gentle giant” with a kind heart and infectious smile, Garza was remembered by family, friends, and teammates as someone who made a lasting impact.

A Delano native and former standout at Robert F. Kennedy High School, Garza later played offensive line for Sacramento State from 2021 to 2023, earning All-Big Sky honors and becoming a key member of the Hornets’ team.

His sudden passing has left his loved ones and the football community mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his character, dedication, and kindness.
