Hayden Panettiere Dies at 36

Actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for Heroes and Nashville, has died at just 36 years old.

Police and emergency medical workers were called to a home in Greenville, South Carolina, around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman.

According to reports, paramedics attempted life-saving measures, including CPR and advanced cardiac care, but Panettiere could not be revived. She was pronounced dead at approximately 2:32 p.m.

Authorities are investigating, but police say there are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Her official cause of death has not yet been released.

Panettiere began acting as a child, appearing in commercials and television shows before gaining wider attention in Remember the Titans.

Her breakthrough came in 2006 when she was cast as Claire Bennet in NBC’s Heroes. She later became a major star as country singer Juliette Barnes on ABC’s Nashville, where she starred throughout the show’s six-season run.

She also appeared in films including Ice Princess, Scream 4, and Scream VI, returning as Kirby Reed more than a decade after her original appearance.

Behind her success, Panettiere openly discussed her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression. She also experienced the devastating loss of her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, who died in 2023 at 28.

Earlier this year, she released her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, sharing deeply personal stories about fame, motherhood, addiction, and recovery.

Panettiere leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, along with her family, friends, and millions of fans.

She would have turned 37 on August 21.
