Catherine O’Hara, beloved for her roles in Home Alone, Schitt’s Creek, and Best in Show, has died at 71.
The acclaimed actress passed away at her Los Angeles home following a brief illness.
According to the reported medical examiner’s findings, O’Hara died from a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot in the lungs. Rectal cancer was listed as an underlying condition.
O’Hara began her career on SCTV before becoming a beloved film and television star. She famously played Kate McCallister in Home Alone and later won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her unforgettable performance as Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bo” Welch, and their two sons, Matthew and Luke.
