NBC Host Sara Gore Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Steps Away From TV for Treatment
Sara Gore, the beloved host of NBC’s Open House and co-host of New York Live, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 49-year-old television personality announced that she will temporarily step away from her hosting duties to undergo treatment and surgery.
“If I didn’t say that I was a little bit scared, I’d be lying.”
Gore said the diagnosis was especially emotional because both her mother and sister have previously battled breast cancer. Although she considered herself high-risk and had always known this could happen, she admitted that nothing truly prepared her for the moment she heard the diagnosis.
She emphasized that the cancer was caught early and that she is surrounded by an excellent medical team and a strong support system at home.
“It’s already a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to focus on what really matters.”
Gore also expressed gratitude to her colleagues, calling them her work family and saying she feels deeply loved and supported.
She will now focus on treatment, surgery, and spending time with her loved ones.
We’re wishing Sara strength, healing, and a smooth recovery. ❤️
