Posted on August 20, 2026 By admin

Former South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia, 38, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer.

Garcia shared the news on social media, saying his doctors are confident he can beat the disease and urging people not to ignore symptoms or delay seeing a doctor.

His wife, Maria, has launched a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses, raising more than $127,000.

Garcia has already started an aggressive chemotherapy treatment and is preparing to meet with liver and colon specialists.

The former Gamecocks star played from 2008–2011, throwing for 7,597 yards and 47 touchdowns and helping South Carolina upset No. 1 Alabama in 2010.

Wishing Stephen strength in his fight. 🙏
