UPDATE: Former MLB Star Garret Anderson’s Cause of Death Revealed at 53
Former Los Angeles Angels star Garret Anderson was battling several serious health conditions before his death earlier this month, according to the coroner.
Anderson died from acute necrotizing pancreatitis, which was ruled the primary cause of death. An autopsy also revealed severe fatty liver disease and an enlarged heart associated with long-term high blood pressure.
Anderson, who spent most of his 17-season MLB career with the Angels, was a three-time All-Star and a key player on the team’s 2002 World Series championship roster.
He finished his career with more than 2,500 hits, 287 home runs and 1,300 RBIs, and remains the Angels’ all-time hits leader.
He was 53.
