11-Year-Old Finds Rare Megalodon Tooth

An 11-year-old boy on vacation in New Jersey has made an incredible prehistoric discovery.

Bo Bowers was exploring a beach in Sea Isle City with his father when they spotted something wedged between rocks. Bo reached into the narrow opening and pulled out a four-inch megalodon tooth.

Experts later confirmed the fossil was genuine, making the find especially rare. Fewer than five megalodon teeth have reportedly been discovered along New Jersey’s coast.

The fossil was examined by experts at the Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center and the New Jersey State Museum. One expert called it the best-condition megalodon tooth he had ever seen.

The tooth may be millions of years old and could have been exposed during recent beach replenishment work.

Megalodon was one of the largest predators ever to live, potentially reaching more than 24 meters in length.

Bo’s family plans to keep the remarkable fossil.

A childhood beach trip turned into a once-in-a-lifetime discovery.
