Legendary country singer and songwriter Dolly Parton has died at 80, according to her nephew Bryan Seaver, who announced her passing on Aug. 25.
Parton had recently spoken about her declining health following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025. Despite her struggles, she said she still had many dreams and projects she wanted to accomplish.
Born in Tennessee in 1946, Parton rose from humble beginnings to become one of country music’s most influential stars. Her timeless hits include “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Beyond music, she found success as an actress, businesswoman and philanthropist. Her Imagination Library has provided millions of books to children, while Dollywood became one of her most recognizable ventures.
With 11 Grammys, a Country Music Hall of Fame induction and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, Parton leaves behind a remarkable legacy that spans generations.
