Jane’s husband changed after losing his job. He began drinking, became violent, and eventually locked Jane and her stepdaughter, Matilda, inside their home.
Desperate, Jane called 911 and disguised her emergency as a pizza order.
“Could I please get two pizzas? Please, I’m desperate.”
911 dispatcher Denise immediately understood something was wrong.
“Are you in danger?”
“Yes.”
“Is there a child with you?”
“My daughter.”
Denise quickly traced the call and sent police to the address.
Before officers arrived, Jane’s husband discovered the call and the line went dead.
Thankfully, police reached the house in time. They arrested him and rescued Jane and Matilda.
Later, Jane met Denise and told her how her husband’s drinking and jealousy had turned their home into a nightmare.
The court denied him parental rights, and Jane gained custody of Matilda, whom she loved like her own daughter.
With therapy and Denise’s support, they slowly rebuilt their lives.
A simple pizza call became the call that saved two lives.
