Firefighter-Paramedic Graham Hoffman Remembered as Hero and Compassionate Caregiver
Graham Hoffman, a 29-year-old Kansas City firefighter-paramedic, tragically lost his life on April 27 while transporting a patient. Known for his dedication, compassion, and leadership, Hoffman was fatally stabbed during a routine call by 38-year-old Shanetta Bossell, who has since been charged with murder.
A respected and beloved member of his community, Hoffman responded to thousands of calls during his time with the Kansas City Fire Department. Colleagues describe him as a kind, soft-spoken professional who embodied the best of the EMS profession.
“He was one of my favorite students and never once received a complaint,” said EMS Division Chief Paul Paikowski. “What makes it worse is that he was murdered while trying to help.”
Hoffman’s death has deeply affected first responders and the broader community. In his honor, KCFD will wear black badge bands and lower station flags for 30 days.
He is remembered not only as a skilled paramedic, but as a loving son, a loyal colleague, and a true public servant who gave his life helping others.
