A woman blocked a man after their first date because she felt he crossed a line by looking at her card and possibly testing her financially.
She had told him her favorite restaurant was expensive, costing around $500, and even suggested a cheaper Mexican place. He still insisted on the upscale restaurant.
After dinner, they both offered to split the bill. But when the server arrived, he took her card and said he would pay for everything.
Then he looked at it and said, “Oh, now I finally know your last name.”
She immediately felt uncomfortable because she had intentionally kept her last name private. She also wondered if he had insisted on paying to see whether she would cover half the bill.
She thanked him, went home, and blocked him. For her, the problem wasn’t the money—it was the invasion of her privacy and uncertainty about his intentions.
