Gomer Pyle Star Ronnie Schell Dies at 94
Veteran actor and comedian Ronald “Ronnie” Schell, best known for playing Duke Slater on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., has died at 94.
Schell died of natural causes on June 12 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
His career spanned more than six decades, with nearly 150 TV appearances and more than 20 films. He also lent his voice to animated projects including Jetsons: The Movie and Rover Dangerfield.
Beyond Gomer Pyle, Schell appeared in shows such as That Girl, Sanford and Son, Charlie’s Angels, Mork & Mindy, and General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Janet, sons Gregory and Christian, and granddaughter Chiara.
A beloved entertainer, Schell leaves behind a legacy that lasted more than 60 years.
