Anthony Head, Beloved ‘Buffy’ and ‘Ted Lasso’ Actor, Dies at 72 💔
British actor Anthony Head, best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, has died at 72.
His daughters, actresses Emily and Daisy Head, confirmed that he passed away peacefully from complications related to pneumonia, surrounded by family.
Head became internationally loved as Rupert Giles, the wise librarian and mentor on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Decades later, he gained a new generation of fans as Rupert Mannion in Ted Lasso.
His career spanned more than four decades and included television, film and theater roles in Doctor Who, Merlin, Little Britain, The Iron Lady and Repo! The Genetic Opera.
His daughters described him as an “extraordinary father” and said it was an honor to witness the impact he and his work had on so many.
He is survived by Emily, Daisy and his brother, actor and singer Murray Head.
