My Mother-in-Law Canceled Our Wedding Reception One Hour Before the Ceremony — Then Three Black Buses Arrived

One hour before my wedding, our reception venue called.

“Are you still picking up the decorations?”

I froze.

“What decorations?”

The manager hesitated.

“Your reception was canceled yesterday.”

“By who?”

“Your mother-in-law.”

My heart dropped.

Seventy guests. Dinner. Cake. Music. Months of planning—all gone.

Tristan immediately called his mother.

Linda didn’t even apologize.

“I saved my son nearly $9,000,” she said. “You’ll thank me later.”

Tristan was furious.

I calmly took the phone.

“You’re right, Linda. Don’t worry about it.”

Then I hung up.

Tristan stared at me.

“What are you doing?”

“We’re getting married.”

And we did.

After the ceremony, our guests stood outside wondering what would happen next.

Linda looked almost pleased.

Then three black shuttle buses pulled up.

Her smile disappeared.

“What’s this?”

“Our reception.”

Forty minutes later, we arrived at a beautiful private estate covered in lights, flowers, elegant tables, and a live band.

Linda stared at me.

“How did you arrange this in an hour?”

I smiled.

“I didn’t.”

Then an elderly man in a tuxedo walked toward us.

Linda saw him and went completely pale.

“Richard?”

Tristan looked at her.

“Mom… who is that?”

The man smiled.

“I’m your grandfather.”

And suddenly, the canceled wedding reception wasn’t the biggest secret Linda had been hiding.
