I sat next to my husband’s ex-wife on a flight—and had no idea what was coming.
“Grace, right? Oscar’s new wife?”
Within minutes, she told me things Oscar had never shared. The house we lived in had once been their dream home. They had chosen the layout, colors, and even imagined Sunday breakfasts there.
Then she mentioned the flowers.
Apparently, Oscar still sent her bouquets every year—something she called an old habit.
My heart sank. Why was my husband still sending flowers to his ex-wife?
But before we landed, she surprised me.
“Oscar is a good man. We loved each other once, but we knew when to let go. You’re the person he chose for his future.”
As I walked off the plane, I realized something: everyone has a past. The question is whether you let that past control your future.
