My MIL Held My Newborn — Then I Discovered Who She Had Invited to the Hospital
After giving birth, I was exhausted and waiting for my husband Daniel to arrive.
Instead, his mother Margaret came first and immediately asked to hold our daughter.
She looked down at the baby and said:
“Hello, little Grace.”
I reminded her that we hadn’t chosen a name.
Then Daniel suddenly walked in.
He took the baby from his mother and told her:
“You need to leave.”
I had no idea why.
Then Daniel explained that his mother had been secretly pushing for our daughter to be named Grace—the middle name of his ex-wife, Rebecca.
They had been discussing it for months without me.
But Daniel had learned something else from the nurse.
Margaret had apparently told the hospital that another visitor was coming.
He turned to her.
“Tell her who you invited.”
She refused to answer.
A moment later, the nurse looked toward the hallway.
Her face went pale.
“Oh, no…”
And then I saw who was standing outside our room.
