My Son Had Candy in His Pockets—Then He Told Me What Grandma Wanted
My 10-year-old son, Charles, wasn’t allowed to eat sweets because of his doctor’s orders. So when I found his pockets stuffed with candy, I was shocked.
“Where did you get these?”
He looked down.
“Grandma gives them to me if I answer questions about you.”
Donna had been asking about my boyfriend Daniel, where we went, whether he stayed over, what I bought him, and how much I spent.
Then Charles revealed something worse.
“She said she’d give me a whole box of chocolates if I stole your phone while you were showering and brought it to her unlocked.”
I immediately called my ex-husband, Anthony.
At first, he struggled to believe it. But Charles repeated everything.
Anthony told me not to confront Donna.
Instead, we let Charles answer harmless questions with silly stories. Donna quickly began calling Anthony, claiming I was wasting his child-support money on Daniel.
Then came the biggest story: Charles told her Daniel and I were supposedly planning to move to another state and buy a five-bedroom house with Anthony’s money.
Donna immediately confronted Anthony.
But Anthony had already seen the pattern.
The next morning, Donna appeared at my door furious, holding a black box.
“Look what your ex-husband did!”
Inside was a letter from Anthony.
He had stopped giving Donna extra money for Charles and redirected it toward Charles’s expenses with me.
The letter explained exactly why:
Donna had used candy to manipulate her grandson, tried to obtain my unlocked phone, and repeatedly fed Anthony false stories about me.
She wanted Anthony to believe I was wasting his money.
Instead, she gave him a reason to stop trusting her.
