My Ex-Husband’s Wife Told My Daughter to Call Her “Mom” — So I Gave Her Exactly What She Asked For
When my 10-year-old daughter came home wearing a shirt that said “DAUGHTER,” I thought nothing of it—until she told me her stepmother Leah wanted her to call her “Mom.”
Leah was once my best friend.
She was also the woman I caught in bed with my husband.
After our divorce, they married, and I never stopped my daughter from having a relationship with her father. But now Leah was trying to take something else from me.
When I confronted her, she laughed.
“I’m Ken’s wife now. I’m her mom too. Get used to it.”
So I smiled and said:
“You’re right.”
Then I gave her a box.
Inside were all the things she had apparently forgotten about motherhood—my daughter’s medical information, therapy schedule, school responsibilities, emergency contacts, and everything a parent handles when a child actually needs them.
Leah thought being “Mom” meant a title.
She quickly discovered it meant responsibility.
Then everything changed.
A few days later, my daughter ended up in the hospital after an accident while in their care. Suddenly, Leah understood what the word “Mom” really cost.
And when my ex-husband later tried to come back to me, I realized something even more important:
I didn’t need revenge.
They had already revealed exactly who they were.
