My Parents Gave My New Car to My Brother Without Permission—Then My Aunt Made One Phone Call

“Emily, where is the silver crossover I bought you?” Aunt Clara asked during dinner.

Before I could answer, my mother smiled. “Jason needed it more.”

The room fell silent. I stared at my plate, fighting back tears.

My name is Emily Carter. I’m 29, a pediatric nurse in Ohio, and I’ve spent my life being treated as less important than my older brother, Jason.

At 34, Jason had already abandoned two businesses and accumulated enormous debt. Yet my parents always defended him while expecting me to solve my own problems.

Three months earlier, Aunt Clara bought me a silver crossover after learning I took two buses to the hospital for my night shifts.

“You work hard, sweetheart,” she’d told me. “You deserve something dependable.”

For once, I felt valued.

But two weeks before our family dinner, Mom demanded that I lend Jason my car because his had broken down. I refused because I needed it for work.

“Your brother has a family to support!” she shouted.

Three days later, Jason used a spare key Mom had secretly taken from my apartment and drove away in my car while I was working.

When I confronted my parents, Dad dismissed me.

“Stop being selfish. You’re single, Emily. Jason has a family.”
