Trump’s “New Word” and Drug Price Promise Spark Reactions
Donald Trump is no stranger to bold claims, but his latest may top them all.
During a White House press conference, Trump, 78, announced an executive order to cut U.S. prescription drug prices by up to 80%, aiming to match European rates. He called it “one of the most consequential” actions in U.S. history.
Then came the head-scratcher:
“We’re gonna equalize,” Trump said. “It’s a new word I came up with.”
Of course, “equalize” has been in the English language since at least the 15th century. Tech enthusiast Farrukh Younus pointed out its Latin roots and noted Merriam-Webster cites it from 1559.
Social media had a field day.
“I’m sure I’ve heard that ‘equalize’ word before?!” one user joked. Another added, “There was a TV show in the 80s called The Equalizer — did he invent that too?”
This wouldn’t be Trump’s first attempt at reinvention. He recently joked about becoming the Pope, even sharing an AI image of himself in papal robes — which he later denied creating.
