Jake introduces his girlfriend Jess to his parents, only to learn that his father knows her — or knows about her secret life. Jess has been involved in dark restaurant dealings with businessmen, using NLP techniques to influence them. Though Jake initially saw Jess as a force of nature, his father reveals she’s been involved in empowering men for profit. After an uncomfortable dinner, Jess admits to manipulating people for financial gain, but insists her intentions were to help. Jake is left uncertain about her true nature, even as his parents offer her a chance to use her skills ethically in a new consultancy. Jake wonders if he can trust Jess and if their relationship is authentic.
