Donald Trump has long been declared in excellent health, but in recent years, concerns have emerged. Most recently, speculation has arisen over him possibly wearing a catheter, and now, a doctor claims he may show signs of dementia.
Trump is the oldest U.S. president to begin a second term. Despite public doubts, in April, White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella reported that Trump is “fully fit” for office. The report noted his height (75 inches), weight (224 pounds), normal heart and sensory scans, and a 2024 colonoscopy, which found a benign polyp and diverticulitis. A follow-up is planned in three years.
Trump’s medications include those for cholesterol, cardiac health, and a skin condition. He also had cataract surgery. Barbabella described Trump’s overall health and cognitive function as excellent.
Trump himself claimed, “I got every answer right” on his cognitive test, though some question the report’s credibility. Psychologist Dr. John Gartner believes Trump may have frontotemporal dementia, citing declining motor skills and footage showing coordination loss.
Gartner points to Trump’s frequent falls, slow gait, and an unusual right leg swing—signs neurologists associate with frontotemporal dementia. He and colleague Dr. Zoffman are “absolutely convinced” Trump is showing signs of the condition.
