Police Search for Suspect After Teen’s Body Found Under Bridge
Police are searching for Martin Mendoza, 21, the boyfriend of 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli, whose decomposed body was found under a bridge near Anderson Lake County Park in Santa Clara County on July 2—three days after she was reported missing.
DiNapoli last contacted her family on June 28, saying she’d return home the next day. She was reported missing on June 29 after failing to respond. Surveillance footage later showed her leaving a house with Mendoza that day. Her car was found at that location, but she never returned. Mendoza returned alone.
Police confirmed the body discovered near the park—an area Mendoza frequented with DiNapoli—was hers on July 3. The condition of the remains delayed identification.
Mendoza, now a person of interest, has refused to cooperate. Police say he may be driving a white Toyota Camry with California plates CW87W00 or 9PTM351. Authorities urge anyone with information to submit an anonymous tip.
Loved ones say DiNapoli had previously expressed fear of Mendoza, calling him “obsessed” and “willing to kill her.” Her family and community mourn her loss, calling for justice.
