The Mysterious Disappearance of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon
In April 2014, Dutch friends Kris Kremers (21) and Lisanne Froon (22) vanished while hiking near Boquete, Panama. What began as a brief daytime hike to a viewpoint turned into one of the most haunting mysteries in recent memory.
Dressed in light clothing and carrying just one backpack with a camera, phones, and water, the women left on April 1 but never returned. The next day, their host family grew concerned when only their dog came back.
A massive search followed. Weeks later, a local woman found a backpack containing their belongings. Disturbingly, their phones had made dozens of failed emergency calls in the days after they vanished. One call briefly connected, and multiple failed PIN attempts were later made on Kris’s phone.
Photos on their camera showed happy moments during the hike, but on April 8, over 90 bizarre night photos were taken—showing personal items arranged on rocks, odd patterns in the dirt, and a chilling close-up of what appears to be Kris’s head.
Eventually, human remains were found: a boot with a foot, a pelvic bone, and scattered bones—some bleached, some decomposed naturally. No signs of trauma or cause of death could be determined.
Despite theories ranging from an accident to foul play, the fate of Kris and Lisanne remains a deeply unsettling mystery—one with far more questions than answers.
