What would you think if you saw 13 semi-trucks parked in the middle of the highway?
Most of us would be annoyed — no one likes traffic jams. But when I learned why these drivers stopped, I was moved to tears.
Under police instruction, 13 trucks parked beneath a bridge on I-696 in Huntington Woods, Michigan. State Trooper Michael Shaw had responded to a call about a man preparing to jump.
Thinking fast, Shaw asked truckers to form a line under the bridge to shorten the fall and potentially save the man’s life. Without hesitation, they did.
For four hours, traffic was rerouted as the trucks stood by. Eventually, the man stepped down and got the help he needed.
These 13 drivers are a powerful reminder: there are people who care, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
