Speculation is growing that former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron may consider legal action against Coldplay after a viral moment at their July 16 concert in Massachusetts.
Byron was caught on the jumbotron hugging employee Kristen Cabot, sparking online backlash and leading to his resignation. The clip quickly went viral on TikTok, triggering intense criticism.
Astronomer addressed the controversy, stating: “Our leaders are expected to set the standard… that standard was not met.” The company confirmed Byron’s resignation, with Cofounder Pete DeJoy stepping in as interim CEO.
Neither Byron nor Cabot have commented publicly.
Some online wonder if Byron could sue Coldplay for reputational harm, but legal experts say it’s unlikely. “He has no grounds,” said attorney Ron Zambrano. “They were at a public event and waived privacy rights.”
Attorney Tre Lovell agreed, noting that while profiting off someone’s image could be an issue, “nothing about this situation qualifies.”
