The disappearance and death of 9-year-old Melina Frattolin is a heartbreaking tragedy.
On July 19, 2025, just before 10 p.m., Warren County emergency services received a call from 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin of Canada, reporting his daughter missing near Exit 22 on I-87 in Lake George, New York. Authorities launched an immediate search.
However, inconsistencies in Luciano’s account raised suspicions. Investigators later stated that no abduction had occurred.
Multiple agencies, including local police, the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State units, joined the search using K9 and aviation teams. Tragically, Melina’s body was found near Ticonderoga, New York, by a Department of Environmental Conservation Officer.
The case remains under New York State Police jurisdiction. Officials say there is no threat to the public, though the investigation is ongoing.
The Police Benevolent Association of New York State issued a statement mourning Melina’s death and commending the search efforts. PBA President James McCartney expressed condolences to Melina’s family and acknowledged the emotional toll on officers involved.
Luciano, a Canadian entrepreneur, often shared loving posts about his daughter on social media. He remains at the center of the ongoing investigation.
