In 2009, Kristoffer Koch, a 25-year-old student researching digital currencies, invested around $27 in Bitcoin after reading Satoshi Nakamoto’s white paper. He bought 5,000 Bitcoins, then forgot about them.
Four years later, he rediscovered his digital wallet—now worth $850,000. Luckily, despite forgetting the password, he managed to regain access.
That year, Koch cashed out a fifth, paid taxes, and bought an apartment in Oslo. The rest, if held, would now be worth over $475 million—turning his modest investment into a potential $594.5 million fortune.
