Understanding Abrosexuality: A Fluid Journey of Attraction
Attraction doesn’t always follow a fixed path. For some, it shifts over time — a lesser-known but real experience called abrosexuality.
Writer Emma Flint shared her story in Metro UK (July 2024), revealing how it took 30 years to understand why her attraction kept changing. Sometimes she felt like a lesbian, other times attracted to men, or no one at all. “It wasn’t indecision — my identity shifted,” she explained.
Flint discovered the term abrosexual online and finally felt seen. This identity describes people whose sexual attraction changes over time, regardless of gender.
According to Healthline, abrosexuality is about fluctuating attraction. It can shift daily, gradually, or over years. One might feel drawn to different genders at different times — or none at all.
Flint emphasizes: “I love the person, not their gender. Just because something isn’t widely known doesn’t make it less real.”
Abrosexuality looks different for everyone, and that fluidity is valid. Flint hopes increased visibility helps others feel less alone — and more understood.
