Jock McDonald, 69, Scottish singer and founder of punk rock band the Bollock Brothers, has died. Bandmate Pat Pattyn announced the news on Facebook, saying McDonald passed away in a “freak swimming accident” in Ireland.
Sharing the message on behalf of McDonald’s children, Pattyn described the family as “in shock” and asked for privacy: “Please don’t try to call us today… Rest in peace, my friend.”
Fans expressed grief online, calling McDonald “a legend” and offering condolences to his family and bandmates.
Known for covers like Never Mind the Bollocks and Harley David (Son of a Bitch), McDonald also released original tracks like The Slow Removal of the Left Ear of Vincent van Gogh. A devout Catholic, he once said, “Age makes us put things into perspective and accept everything more.”
