Florida Nurse Under Investigation for Alleged Abuse of Stepson
Alexis Von Yates, 34, of Ocala, Florida, is under criminal investigation after being accused of sexually abusing her 15-year-old stepson during his summer 2024 visit. The allegations have shocked the community and raised serious concerns about trust in caregiving roles.
Yates was arrested on November 6, 2024, after a tip led Marion County authorities to investigate. The teen reported the abuse occurred while his father was at work. Yates was released on a $10,000 bond, and in December, her attorney entered a not guilty plea. The case is ongoing in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court.
Following her arrest, the Florida Department of Health suspended Yates’s nursing license, citing the serious nature of the allegations and the need to protect public safety. Disciplinary proceedings are expected, though she can contest the suspension.
