The brutal murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif in August 2023 shocked the world. Her father, Urfan Sharif, later confessed to killing her after a horrific two-year “campaign of torture.” Sara’s body was found at their home in Woking, Surrey, with a note from Urfan admitting the crime: “I killed my daughter by beating.”
Sara suffered over 70 injuries, including burns, fractures, and bite marks. The day before her body was found, Urfan, his wife Beinash Batool, and her uncle Faisal Malik fled to Pakistan, sparking a global manhunt.
All three were eventually arrested and charged. In court, Urfan admitted, “She died because of me.” In December 2024, he was sentenced to life with a minimum of 40 years. Batool received 33 years, and Malik was sentenced to 16 years for allowing Sara’s death. The judge called their actions “almost inconceivably cruel.”
Sara’s mother, Olga Domin, called the trio “executioners” and said her daughter was now “an angel in heaven.”
Once imprisoned, Urfan became a target. Inmates at HMP Belmarsh, disturbed by his crimes, ambushed him on New Year’s Day using a jagged tuna can lid. He survived but was badly injured. Reports name one attacker as Steve Sansom, a convicted double murderer.
