William and Kate to Move into Eight-Bedroom Forest Lodge
The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to relocate to Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom mansion in Windsor Great Park, described as their potential “forever home.” Two families living in nearby Crown Estate cottages were asked to move earlier this summer, reportedly without formal eviction notices, to make way for the royal move.
Forest Lodge, a Grade II-listed property with a ballroom, tennis court, and extensive grounds, is a significant upgrade from their current four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage. The move follows a difficult time for the Royal Family, including the death of Queen Elizabeth and cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Princess Kate.
Though aides once denied plans to relocate, preparations at Forest Lodge are now in full swing. The property is near Lambrook School, attended by their three children, and the couple will fund the move privately.
Previously home to high-profile tenants, including philanthropist Alisa Swidler and luxury events planner Alex Fitzgibbons, Forest Lodge has a storied history dating back to the 1770s.
The move raises questions about the future of Buckingham Palace, currently under costly renovation, as William may become the first monarch not to live in a palace or castle.
