Vice President JD Vance has sparked concern online after a peculiar response to a question about Donald Trump’s health.
Trump’s well-being has come under scrutiny following multiple appearances with a noticeable bruise on his hand, which the White House attributed to frequent handshakes. Attempts to cover it with makeup failed, raising more questions. Earlier this summer, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), and with his 80th birthday approaching, speculation about his health has intensified.
Asked if he was ready to take over if needed, Vance told USA Today: “I’ve had a lot of on-the-job training in the last 200 days, but the president is in incredibly good health… He’s the last to sleep and first to wake up.”
He added, “If God forbid there is a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten.”
The internet quickly reacted to his comments, calling them “odd” and “ominous.”
Trump has long mocked rivals over health and mental fitness, but now faces similar scrutiny. His niece, Mary Trump, recently called his leadership a “reign of idiocy” and claimed he’s “declining rapidly.” A medical expert cited signs possibly pointing to early-stage dementia, including a noticeable “leg swing” when he walks.
Despite the concerns, White House physician Sean Barbabella insists Trump is in “good health” and fully fit to serve.
