Biden Warns of “Dark Days” Under Trump
Speaking at the National Bar Association’s gala in Chicago, former President Joe Biden warned that the U.S. is facing “dark days” under President Donald Trump, accusing his administration of trying to “dismantle the Constitution” with support from a passive Congress and a complicit Supreme Court.
Without naming Trump directly, Biden said, “this guy” is undermining democracy, rolling back basic freedoms, and reversing progress made during his own administration. He stressed the importance of judicial independence and called out law firms, politicians, and media outlets for enabling authoritarian behavior.
“We’re at a defining moment in American history,” Biden said. “Our future is on the line.”
He criticized the administration’s immigration policies and said marginalized groups are under attack, calling the fight ahead “existential.” Despite ongoing cancer treatment, Biden has kept a low profile, mostly staying in Delaware while working on a book.
Joking about his age, Biden said, “It’s hell turning 40 twice,” before urging Americans to stand up for justice, protect the Constitution, and fight for the soul of the nation.
