Rhea met Damon in their early 20s, both broke and hopeful. He proposed under their college oak tree, and despite early struggles and a disapproving mother-in-law, Rhea believed love would carry them through.
After their son, Mark, was born, Damon began to pull away. He was distant, always gone, and emotionally absent. Rhea stayed — for her son, not herself.
Then one ordinary afternoon, she came home early and found Damon in bed with another woman. His only reaction was annoyance. Calmly, Rhea took Mark and left.
She filed for divorce and full custody the next morning.
