Massive Memorial for Charlie Kirk Draws 90,000; Trump Calls Him “American Martyr”
Tens of thousands gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on September 21, 2025, to honor Charlie Kirk, the right-wing activist and founder of Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a university event in Utah.
President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other conservative leaders addressed the crowd. Trump praised Kirk as “an American martyr,” vowing his legacy would endure. Kirk’s widow Erika, now TPUSA’s CEO, also spoke, offering forgiveness to her husband’s killer.
The memorial, titled “Building a Legacy”, drew over 90,000 attendees, with 70,000 inside the stadium and thousands more in overflow venues. The Department of Homeland Security classified it as an event of “highest national significance” due to security concerns and political tensions.
Speakers included Donald Trump Jr., Elon Musk, Marco Rubio, and Jack Posobiec. Remarks were delivered behind bulletproof glass. The event blended Christian and nationalist themes, with some commentators warning it risked deepening political divides.
Kirk, 31, was known for his polarizing rhetoric on immigration, climate change, and religion, and was influential in mobilizing conservative youth. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu also paid tribute, calling Kirk “a lion-hearted friend of Israel.”
